And the winner was: Dances With Wolves. Starring and directed by Kevin Costner. This film also won for Best Director (Kevin Costner), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Original Score, and Best Film Editing. Dances With Wolves is a three hour epic western which tells the story of a Civil War Union officer who becomes disillusioned and heads west finding peace in nature with the Lakota Sioux Indians.
